unfinished grian + etho designs from session 6
don't forget that pearl remembers the vindication of finally having a friend, and one that will make the ultimate sacrifice for you. of thinking everything was lost, of being the witch to scar's wicked, of resigning yourself to fight for blood until you are truly alone. the welcoming arms into victory that finally healed her aching heart. not to have to scratch and claw your way to the gates but to be invited in.
she saw herself in him and it drove her to make a sacrifice, and he saw himself in her and it drove him to stop her.
i haven't watched pearl's episode yet. but there's something to be said about the fact that she knew scar well enough to know that, when it was the two of them, he would have too much pride to accept a sacrifice.
she doesn't want to win, and she tells him at first before she quietly tucks that secret back into its shell after scar's indignant reaction to her first attempt at self-sacrifice. she lets scar forget about it as they kill gem, and then as scar kills pearl. at no point does she try to say here, let me give this to you. she knows scar, but she also knows the pain of an ending like that.
but she misses a few swings, doesn't she? her legs don't move as quickly to duck away from his arrows. and isn't that familiar? isn't that something like a cactus ring, with two unrelenting fists and two half-hearted ones: a fight with two unwilling participants, a fight that was over before it ever really began at the insistence of one of its patrons
pearl is all too familiar with the sting of sacrifice, but then on the other side of things... scar knows all too well the tragedy of gifted victory, doesn't he?
WHY IS ETHO EBENEZER SCROOGE AND WHY DOES IT KIND OF MAKE SENSE
4 beds 4 cuddling
i've been pretty distracted by all the sapphics this season so maybe someone pointed this out and i didn't see it but - jace was murdered and brought back under porter's control with a rage star, he was never evil at all as far as we know. but even before brennan said jace and porter are a 'duo' people have been shipping him with porter, so everyone just accepted that he was evil because yeah he's banging the evil guy. the bad kids burn a couple of him alive, one of them is arrested (and then also burned i think?) and his only crime was choosing to come back to life to worship a rage god which yeah after getting murdered by your coworker i think that's fair. he didn't know porter would control him because ankarna didn't know that porter was controlling anything, he was on that devil's honey.
imagine being brutally murdered out of the blue by your coworker, a nameless god offers to revive you if you'll worship her and then you come back to life only to realise it was the same fucking coworker who can now mind control you. and then you get murdered four more times and you stop being mind-controlled but no one wants to bring you back because they think you were fucking your murderer. the life of a twink.
Toph: I am not out of control! I'm a law abiding citizen!
Aang: Really? Name one law
Toph: [pause] Don't kill people?
Aang: That's on me. I set the bar too low.
adaine's an oracle so either she foresaw fabian getting her an EARWORM and decided to do revenge OR she rigged drawing straws to get a closed loop with fabian because she doesn't have 2gps to spare on a gift and fabian has no concept of how much things cost.
FABIAN AND ADAINE ARE SO BAD AT GIFTGIVING. WHAT THE HELL WERE BOTH OF THOSE
you ever just stop to think about taissa turner before the crash. so coldly logical. everything about her was so controlled, such perfectly calculated compartmentalisation that she could get the team to nations, she could get into law school, she could keep her parents happy and do it all with just enough time in between to let herself be happy with van. how she carved out a space for them to live freely and kept it carefully contained to protect it.
and then she loses control bit by bit. she has more freedom, more time with van, more space to be herself. but she gets greedy. she gorges herself on it. she loses the safety, the certainty, the confidence. she can't protect herself anymore, can't protect van. and she can barely even enjoy it anymore because she's so desperately trying not to lose it. part of losing control is losing yourself, and suddenly she's looking at someone living her life who's not her, who invaded their safe space.
think about tai on the other side of the hospital door, screaming to see her. just to see her, spend as much time with her as she can. to bask in five more minutes of van. and the other person dismisses her with a promise of later. they could have another day, another year with van. if she just hands over those five minutes. if she gives up her joy, her freedom, then maybe she can go crawling back to control.
bitches say buff like it means he's not fat. bodybuilders in the off-season? weightlifters, wrestlers, boxers?
Ragh is canon buff not fat
wrong!
My favourite bits of Tumblr slang are the ones that sound like they'd just be Starfire from Teen Titans' actual, legit word for that thing.
