Dream's design: most likely done! At least we're getting there. I don't know what kinda changes my brain will come up with later so consider this a (probably) temporary design lol
Below is a semi-coherent explanation for the last image
The 3rd image is like a visualisation of my notes on them, inspired by nature patterns. Dream and Nightmare are not total opposites of each other, but rather analogous to each other.
Resilience — Motion : their nature. Nightmare is prone to being static, while Dream is constant motion.
Continuity — Harmony : community. Dream likes the interconnectedness of large communities, while Nightmare prefers one-on-one and closer relationships.
Sensuality — Intensity : how they approach relationships. In their truest nature, Dream is like a blazing sun: intense and constant. If he clicks with you, then he'd be excited to fill in every corner that he can in your life. Meanwhile Nightmare is more like a cat: approaching only when he feels comfortable and when he wants to, even if it's rarely. But the weight/importance of his attention makes up for it (or not, depending what kind of attention you're getting..)
Connection — Stability : what both of them need to feel happy and safe in their lives. Funnily enough, it's also what they don't have.
Influence — Change : how they impact other beings/people, consciously and power-wise. Nightmare influences others by compounding on preexisting emotions/thoughts/insecurities/etc, making one more likely to do whatever (like for example fall into a depressive episode). Dream, on the other hand, doesn't do subtlety and smashes through (or into) anything, outright forcing one to change their mood or mindset. His powers walk along the line of hypnosis in that regard.
