i wrote an essay in 2021 all about how growing up fat had a significant impact on my relationship to the queer community and i suspect the same is true for many other fat and queer people. my identity and labels have shifted around since then but the sentiment still very much remains.
i think it's important as we celebrate pride to take time to think about the significant hurdles that fat people face in the queer community, from lack of representation, exclusion, and internal feelings of undesirability to significant medical discrimination, especially for fat trans people.

We’re watching the Return of the King right now, and got to the part where Denethor is introduced. My husband asks me for the context of why Denethor is Like That, since I just finished reading the book. So I explained how Denethor has been using a Palantir for years to get information, and how Sauron has been manipulating him by only letting him see events that give him a worst possible impression of reality.
So my husband replies “Oh! So Denethor is basically just like your grandpa after he starts getting all his news from Fox.” And honestly, yeah pretty much.
