You see, Michael was still young at the time. William was just supposed to free the souls and move on. However that’s not what happened. After William’s death, Henry told Mike that he left town without telling anyone. Then he took Mike in and continued to raise him.

He basically told the kid that his dad abandoned him. That is a dick move right there.
