I think it’s fascinating how the time and social context a piece of media is released in can drastically change what an audience takes from it.

When Hamilton was first released in the mid 2010s, I don’t remember seeing any sort of criticism of it. It was near universally beloved (to my recollection). But when the Hamilton movie was released on Disney+ during the BLM movement, then we started to have conversations about celebrating slave owners and if racially blind casting actually makes it “woke”.

Rian has said he intended Miles Bron to be a stand in for Mark Zuckerberg. But in 2022/3, as we watch supposed genius Elon Musk destroy Twitter and throw a temper tantrum, we see him instead.

No story’s message is universal, nor is it static. Every person, every time period, with their own values, life experiences, priorities, will read it in a different way. And as our societies change and evolve, so will our interpretations of older books, movies, musicals, tv shows, and more.

Bro the build up for this scene, Darkstripe spends his whole life orbiting around Tigerstars approval and thinking that fallowing every order means that Tiger must care about him by default only for the truth to hit him in the face.

Like Fire was a crack in the manipulate "huh I guess Tigerstar was wrong about this kittypet." And then his kits "Tiger says halfclan kits are evil but mine are so innocent...how can their existence be wrong?"

And then Tiger just throws his kits in jail and all this tigerclan nonsense fbnsdnd

Maybe Tiger orders Darkstripe to kill Fire and his kits for the ultimate proving of his loyalty and It finally hits him "oh shit Tigerstar actually...doesn't give a shit about me woah" and because his Darkstripe he doesn't think it through and probably heads straight to Tigerstar for a confrontation and/or explanation, obviously wouldn't end well lol

I'm getting tired of the sly remarks to Cinderpelt becoming a medicine cat instead of a warrior. Fifth book in and I'm still getting the usual line, Fireheart couldn't shake off how Cinderpelt could no longer be a warrior or have a mate or have kits. SHE CLEARLY IS A GREAT MEDICINE CAT. So yea, maybe she was a fail queen two books ago when she had to learn to live with this disability, but she did learn! Yellowfang was a mean ol' granny, but clearly understood how well she adapted to the new role. It's not the worst depiction of becoming disabled, since you know in warrior cats society every able cat aspires to be a warrior and to lose that is everything and to find a new role that aids the entire clan in more ways than one is a great success story. Fireheart stays whiny for too long about Cinderpelt, imo.
