The fact that ochako is REPEATEDLY shown to us that she is not as important as Katsuki in Izuku’s story is a queer narrative. There’s no denying it anymore. This is a queer story now whether you like it or not.
Now, I do genuinely like izuocha, but I like it in the same way that I like any other ship. It’s decent and cute. It’s built off of supporting each other. But lemme paint something that should have been clear to everyone when they read this manga: bkdk is built entirely on completing a puzzle piece, izuocha is built on supporting another person. But you do not complete that person. And no one will ever complete Izuku like Katsuki does, and the fact that shigaraki outright SAYS IT is pretty fucking gay. The series literally said it to your face, these two, complete each other. You cannot have one without the other.
And SPEAKING of datte atashi no hero, I WILL be posting my analysis of this song and what I think of the lyrics. Maybe some other mha songs while I’m at it too to really show how implied these mf have always been.
Recently, I caught up to Boku no Hero Academia. I know nothing of the BNHA fandom, but I will say this: I’m disappointed by the fact that the relationship between Katsuki and Izuku isn’t generally considered to be the most profound. When I say profound, there are no positive connotations. Izuku and Katsuki are, as of now, not friends. When I say profound, I simply mean that I have a heck-ton of content to discuss. So yeah, this relationship is definitely the most complex in the series, albeit a flawed one.
Fortunately, this relationship is undergoing a transformation. By the end of the manga, it will have evolved into something that is complex, mutually supportive, and beautiful. In this post, I aim to examine and accentuate its intricacies. If you aren’t exactly a fan of Izuku and Katsuki’s relationship, I hope this post brings you to appreciate it as much as I do. (Please ignore any typos, by the way. I didn’t look over what I wrote.)

Headcanon №8123: Hawks and Midoriya had quarrels (mostly All Might vs Endeavor of course) and discussions on hero fan forums for years without knowing who they are irl. And finally they occasionally meet each other on herocon. The final battle begins.
Also thanks @domineeringscarves for this beautiful conversation text (especially for nicknames they’re gorgeous)
Every moment between Bakugou and Midoriya is a bakudeku moment because they’re in love
I DON’T KNOW I AM SORRY I WAS IN ANGST MOOD APOLOGIZE
Deku when he needs to beat someone’s ass :
he’s so LOUD.
I’ve said this before somewhere, but I’ve always found it peculiar how in this scene, Bakugou is watching All Might while Deku is just watching Bakugou. It has always been eyes on Bakugou, no matter what. Even with his passion and admiration for All Might, he looked at Bakugou like that.
He looked at Bakugou in the same way he looked at the greatest, the number 1 hero.
This isn’t the first example of this, either. All throughout their childhood, even in times when we can assume Bakugou was already being mean to him, he STILL looked at him like that. That admiration, passion, care and love…it never went away, no matter their circumstances.
That’s unconditional love.
Being able to see past the flaws and outward harshness of someone, being able to see all of the good sides of someone who would normally be hated based on how they treat people, defending them and believing in them, wanting what’s best for them; it’s nothing short of raw, unconditional love.
The same eyes, over and over again. Even when he was pushed down and forced to chase after Bakugou, he had that same look. A look so pure and filled with admiration and care, they’re feelings so strong that they never went away for a single second. Even as he aged, even in middle school when Bakugou treated him like utter garbage. He held out for the day they could stand on even ground, and then he was given OfA and obtained that chance.
Though obviously, Bakugou being the stubborn boy he is, still made it hard, but that didn’t stop Deku from hoping. Then we got KvD2 and Bakugou learning about OfA and coming face to face with himself and his flaws.
And then we get to see that the way Deku looked at him all their lives, never changed. Not for a single moment, that admiration never waivered.
Unconditional love, man. That look, that awe and amazement, he’s watched Bakugou with those eyes all of his life. It’s never changed, and I think that’s such an important aspect to remember when considering their relationship. Deku has always, ALWAYS had unconditional love and support for Bakugou, it has never been anything else. Even having the parts that Deku hates, Bakugou was always everything he aspired to be and the one person he wanted to always have in his life.
It’s just …always been Bakugou. Not All Might, not anyone else.
Bakugou.
💥🥦- Bakugou has always held resentment towards Midoriya; the greenette’s nickname is proof of that fact. No one knew when these feelings began hell, even Bakugou himself couldn’t pinpoint the direct moment he started to hate Midoriya.
💥🥦- Bakugou still can’t believe Midoriya gave their relationship a chance. He still remembers the horrible things he did (and said) to Midoriya (the worst being when he told the boy to kill himself) yet, Izuku still managed to forgive him. The explosive man knew he must do everything in his power to show the forever emotional man that he made the right decision.
💥🥦- It starts off small, telling Midoriya that he isn’t as shitty as before (he still had his brash language; there’s no changing the way he is). He still yells at Midoriya but, it doesn’t hold the same malice as it did before. Everyone notices the shift but, they don’t question it. It’s about time Katsuki learned to express his feelings.
💥🥦- Communication is the key between them. Bakugou had to learn that not everyone views him as inferior and that explosive violence solves nothing. Therapy in the form of music allows him to keep calm while also giving him an outlet to show how he feels. All-in-all, Bakugou Katsuki has learned to be a soft boy for Midoriya and a mean bastard to everyone else.
💥🥦- Sometimes, he does slip up and get a little too loud but, that’s to be expected. No person is perfect. All that matters is that he always apologizes for his words once he has tome to evaluate himself. Our boom boom man has graduated anger management!
💥🥦- Bakugou isn’t the only person who had to change. Midoriya also had to learn to grow a spine. He’s still a crybaby that loves to help people but know that he can be assertive. He knows when to stick up for himself.
💥🥦- “You shouldn’t let him talk to you like that,” that was a stick that broke the camel’s back. Midoriya was tired of Bakugou’s outbursts, never once apologizing for the role he played in damaging his mental health. Therapy was crucial for him as well. He had to learn to love himself and that it’s not a crime to defend himself.
💥🥦- While he still cries at everything, he’s learned to accept that part of himself as well. He’s emotional; that’s part of his charm. He likes the name Deku. Even if it was meant to damage him, he finds great satisfaction in turning that negative into a name that strikes hope and happiness into the hearts of so many people.
💥🥦- “Good job, Deku,” Midoirya loves to be praised, especially by Bakugou. It makes his smile. His smiles are so full of life and love and sheer happiness. Him smiling makes everyone smile. “Aye, Deku, stop that creepy ass smiling,” that makes him smile even more. Bakugou’s words mean nothing when he’s hiding his flushed cheeks.
💥🥦- “Kacchan! You’re blushing,” Midoriya giggles. “Do you like my smile?”
💥🥦- “Don’t ask me stupid ass questions,” that translates to ‘your smile makes me happy to be alive.’ It’s a good thing most people around him speak ‘Bakugou-nese.’
💥🥦- The two of them are so adorable in public. Midoriya loves to wrap his arms around Bakugou’s waist and nuzzle his head into his chest. While Bakugou normally hates when people touch him, he melts in his boyfriend’s arms.
💥🥦- They’re often goofy together. Bakugou may yell but, he’s a big lover of laughter. And Midoriya just happens to be a source of humor. Look at his face! You’re telling me if that face told a joke, you wouldn’t laugh?!
💥🥦- “Hey, Kacchan, what do you call a pig with no legs?” Bakugou facepalms as he tries not to laugh.
💥🥦- “Babe, you know I love you but-“
💥🥦- “Kacchannnn just guess,” Bakugou twists his tongue in his mouth as he still tries not to snort.
💥🥦- “Ground Pork?” Midoriya pouts.
💥🥦- “I wanted to say it,” Bakugou can’t help but laugh and hold his stomach as tears run down his face. We all know he doesn’t find the joke funny; he finds the adorable pout on his baby boy’s face funny.
💥🥦- “I’m sorry, baby boy. Tell to me again,” he quiets himself.
💥🥦- “Okay, so what do you call-“
💥🥦- “GROUND FUCKING PORK,” he’s such a tool sometimes.
💥🥦- “YOU’RE SUCH AN ASS KATSUKI,” that doesn’t stop him from laughing. He wipes his eye and shoots a crooked grin to Midoriya.
💥🥦- “I like your ass.”
