The plot twist of how Ben died was shocking and all, Theoretically a good plot twist. But. It's lazy and boring and I refuse canon and accept fanon. Ben died because of his powers, period.
you're laughing. The umbrella academy's final season destroyed every character's personal growth and semi-healed traumas, left huge plot-holes, completely abandoned some of it's most beloved side characters that were crucial in previous seasons and you're laugh-oh. You're crying. My bad. Go ahead. Let it out. Understandable.

AU where the family dynamics get swapped around. Tubbo, Eret, and Dream are raised by Philza. Tommy, Wilbur, Ranboo, and Techno are raised by Captain Sparklez. George and Quackity are raised by Puffy. Sapnap is raised by Sam.
I have confused myself, but those are the basics of it.
Though Dream is more of a speedrunner that a outright fighter, he and Phil share a need to wander, so they often left home together to explore and travel.Â
This leaves Eret, the oldest, to stay and raise Tubbo alone, along with a young fox hybrid, Fundy, who they found abandoned by a creek. Luckily, the responsibility doesn’t manage to wear them down too much before they befriend a man named Foolish, who becomes a great help to her.Â
Tommy, and Wilbur are just chilling, sailing the seas and getting many, many shiny treasures for their collections.Â
Eret and Foolish were friends. Eret died in a battle though, and got reincarnated as Tubbo and Dream’s sibling. Foolish found them again, as he always does.Â
Fundy’s still Wilbur’s kid, it’s just that neither of them know that for a long while. Sally was a siren, who tried to find Wilbur to give him Fundy, but was unable to, and knowing her child wouldn’t be able to survive at sea, left him by the creek where she knew people passed by everyday, before leaving.
When Sparklez was called away on a mission, Wilbur was often the one to watch Tommy and Ranboo. Though Tommy already considered him a brother, a young Ranboo came to see him as something of a parental figure-this leads to some tension between him and Fundy in the future.
Wilbur and Techno follow Dianite, and Tommy and Ranboo follow Ianite.
Events pretty much continue on as canon, except changed by the different relationships and lifestyles they’ve all lived.Â
Example: Dream still creates the Smp. Eret and Tubbo still join L’manberg. Eret still betrays them-but here are some changes. Eret betrays them because he wants some of her older brother’s approval, just to be a bit as powerful as him for once, and have him respect her. In the Final Control Room, Punz and Eret grab Tubbo and Fundy, restraining them while the others are killed, much to their horror.
They basically end up stuck in the castle for a week, while their siblings try to convince them of it, until Tommy and Wilbur sneak in and steal them back to L’manberg.
They don’t blame the two for it, after all. It was easy to see the confusion and fear on their faces when it all went down, they obviously weren’t aware of it, and if they didn’t blame them for Dream’s decisions before, why would they blame them for Eret’s now?
Wilbur eventually gets consumed by chaos, weak from stress and his decline, and ends up blowing up L’manberg. Sparklez comes, senses the internal unbalance, and knocks him out when Wilbur tries to get him to kill him-he drags the twins to a nice, warm island, builds a house, and helps them heal.
Tubbo doesn’t lose a second life to Techno, he loses it to Schlatt, who gets annoyed when Techno hesitates and does the job himselfÂ
Foolish honestly has very little idea with how to deal with mortals, so he just kind of treated Tubbo and Fundy how he would Eret, but with a lot more caution and care-because they’re so tiny and curious, he’s terrified he’s accidentally going to hurt them.Â
This basically results in them knowing a lot of things they shouldn’t-which, in his defense, was exactly how he got Eret to take care of themselves-they did healthy stuff and rested well, and he’d teach them neat tricks or some secret knowledge in turn. Bribery works great…in theory.
In practice, giving two small children knowledge of the dark arts hasn’t turned out too well. Weird.Â
The SBI basically kind of steals Tubbo and Fundy. They just…take ‘em. Once Eret gets himself together again, and redeems himself, they share with her too, but previous to that, Tubbo and Fundy are no longer their’s, they will now be joining the pirate crew.
AU where Tubbo’s the son of Captain Sparklez, but something happened, and the people of Mianite(gods and all) were cursed, forgetting about everything outside their duties as gods and champions-including people.Â
Despite originally only being temporary, the curse begin to grow stronger, and one day, well.
One day they didn’t remember, and Tubbo, knowing the curse might hurt them if a memory was forcefully triggered, deciding not to risk it, and removed himself from the scene.Â
He made his way to Hypixel, under the alias of Forest, and befriended Purpled. The two would fight together in underground arenas, and came to rely and trust each other.Â
A few years later, Tubbo decided to leave Hypixel for his own modded survival world, where he can settle down for awhile. However, on his way to the portal hub, he catches sight of the Captain, along with Crumb, who both seem to be looking for something.Â
Watching them, he gets distracted, and ends up caught in a rushing crowd. One thing leads to another, he hits his head, and tumbles through a portal he’s not familiar with. Wakes up on SMP Earth being patched up by Tommy, and can’t remember who he is or how he got there.Â
The two get close over the duration of their time there, and when it’s over, end up going to Dream SMP together.Â
And so it goes from there, until one day, in Snowchester, Tubbo gets a message.Â
Captain Sparklez and Crumb have joined the game.
Other bits:
Tubbo has a bracelet with little charms on it that has plot relevance. Said charms are a gift from several people, with an Eye of Ender charm from Ianite, and a sword charm from Purpled, as well as eventual new ones from the others.Â
He leaves his sword charm with Purpled before leaving for his survival world, as a promise to come visit, and loses his Eye of Ender charm in the crowd, where it’s found by Crumb and Sparklez.Â
Tommy gave him both a bee charm and a red bandanna that he wears over the bracelet.Â
Tubbo speaks Ender, but only realizes that when he runs into Enderboo, which results in a very confusing conversation for both of them.Â
Tubbo’s body is still ingrained with his fighting style, even if he doesn’t remember learning to fight at all. That’s led to several interesting situations.Â
it's about how jinx was always perfect in silco's eyes. it's about how jayce always loved viktor because he was imperfect. it's about jinx saying, "i thought maybe you could love me like you used to, even though i'm... different." it's about viktor saying, "i am more than i ever was." silco bringing jinx back to life after she tried to kill herself on the bridge; jayce bringing viktor back to life despite his promise to destroy the hexcore. it's about jinx's "looks like you got a couple" cutting to the core of viktor's obsession with curing himself, and viktor instantly parrying with "you have much to offer this commune, powder," a stark reminder of the child she no longer is, the child people won't stop recognizing her as.
vi accusing jinx of murdering powder. jayce snarling that his partner died in this room. vi's lesson being that she has to accept jinx for who she is now, who she has the potential to be in the future, and to stop letting her grief for powder eclipse her love for jinx in the present - jayce's lesson being that he has to experience the world through viktor's eyes to really understand him, and then he has to show viktor how he has always seen him, and everything else only gets in the way. silco telling jinx that she needs to find the strength to walk away, or the cycle will never end. jayce and viktor ending the cycle together.
i'm always with you, sis. even when we're worlds apart. // in all timelines, all possibilities... only you can show me this.
Can I propose an au idea? An au where Tubbo dies in the vault at the hands of Dream, and finds himself in the past, when the sbi are all together, before entering the Dream SMP. He’s not the only one - Wilbur has also found himself in the past, although he only remembers up until the moment of his death.
The catch is that, sort of like Ghostbur, when they get to the past, they’re primarily driven by the opposite emotions that they had around the time of their death.
Wilbur, who had gone off the deep end, ends up much more like Ghostbur in the past. It’s not entirely the same, he hasn’t forgotten anything and doesn’t forget things, but he’s primarily driven by a want to keep his family happy and safe. And since he’s a living person, not a ghost, he’s still capable of feeling other emotions, changing and evolving.
Tubbo on the other hand, who stayed himself until the end, who spent his last moments comforting Tommy with a smile on his face, wakes up bitter and angry. He feels used, is furious that his own death was because no one thought of him as his own person, just as an extension of Tommy, and wants revenge on the people who killed him and made him suffer. And if people see him as a bad guy for it, well, at least they’ll be seeing him as a individual with agency at all.
Either they don’t realize that the other is in the past and are working around each other, or more interestingly, they realize that they’re both in the past, and Wilbur has to try and convince Tubbo not to ruin Phil and Techno (among others), since they haven’t done anything yet.
Healing shenanigans ensue?
Oh, this is interesting. Time travel AUs are always fun to work with, and this could go down several paths.Â
So both Wilbur and Tubbo end up in the past. Are they in a private home world? Smp Earth?
The others seeing the changes would be interesting too. Tommy is such a source of conflict, for both of them, but Tubbo especially. Wilbur can think back on his actions with a much clearer mind, and he regrets them, deeply.Â
Tubbo...well, Tommy’s his best friend. But like you said, everyone only saw him as an extension of Tommy. And in his last moments, as a way to hurt Tommy. The equal anger and guilt about being used like that...
God, all the SBI are going to get whiplash when dealing with the new Wilbur and Tubbo, but Tommy’s probably going to get the brunt of it, all things considered.Â
If they don’t realize they’re both in the past? Wilbur tries to pull his family together before they have the chance to fall apart. Does he succeed? Does he not? We could have SBI sticking together and maybe even joining the Dream Smp as a group, or coming sooner in the pogtopia arc, or maybe not even joining at all.
Tubbo could stay and plot, or he could just straight up run away, and the SBI could see him years later, as an entirely different person. In what way? Who knows. Maybe he healed in those years away, got a better life, set himself free. Maybe he grew more bitter, more angrier, more desperate to prove he was a person, and not just something to be tossed aside or used against others.
They realize they’re both in the past? Prime bonding material between Tubbo and Wilbur. Maybe Wilbur convinces Tubbo to hold off on making Phil and Techno’s lives hard on the condition that they actually change for the better, and it’s a visible change. Maybe Tubbo still ups and leaves, and Wilbur and the SBi chase after him.
We could have late night conversations between Tubbo and Wilbur, about their presidencies, and regrets, and Tommy. About how they could change things for the better, or just never get involved at all. Wilbur’s all for the former, and Tubbo preferring the latter.
Moral dilemmas between both parties, heartbreaking conversations, and their friends and family trying to piece together these people they’ve known all their lives, but who now seem so broken and different.
