Public transit is funded by all of us as citizens, which makes paying to use public transit an extra burden carried by the poor: the people who have no CHOICE but to use it. A poverty tax. Here in #portland Trimet wants to spend several hundred thousand adding more cops to police fares, even tho that money is desperately needed elsewhere to make Trimet more accessible and user friendly.
