erm okay so... the way this argument ends...

because obviously the doctor is about to blame donna for spilling the coffee, but he catches himself, backs off and apologizes. and it's not him catching himself in a "this is a pointless argument because i'm right and you aren't getting that so i give up" sorta way- because in that beat after, he isn't irritated, he doesn't start trying to figure out a way to reiterate his point. it's him catching himself in a "that was the wrong thing to say and i regret that" sorta way.

it's him catching himself becoming another one of the voices in donna's head calling her a screw up.

And the thing about, “He saved my life but he couldn’t touch me,” is that it absolutely goes both ways. Before they meet, there is the implication that they have both been struggling and lack a personal companionship with emotional commitment and support to see them through. The possibility that they have considered suicide is introduced, even if they aren’t necessarily suicidal in nature.

Meeting each other quite literally saves each other, gives them what they both need for fulfillment, connection, and support. But the one aspect missing is the actualization of deeper affection, something expressed by touch. They saved each other, but can’t touch one another. They both are emotionally committed, very much life partners, and yet can’t touch the person they saved, the person who saved them. Each feels that they are not allowed this; each feels it is not an aspect of their partnership that would be cherished and reciprocated on the same level. “He’s straight,” or “he doesn’t feel things that way.” And neither of them realize they are mirroring each other even in this.

These are all my favorite scenes from the game, separate images are separate moments (which probably doesn’t make much sense if you haven’t played it), dialogues are slightly changed to fit their interaction better. Sherlock is Joel (who behaves must of the game like an ass until the moment he doesn’t) and John is Ellie (I love Ellie so fucking MUCH)

Okay backtrack. So basically both SHERLOC and WATSON are cameras attached to a robotic arm in search of life on Mars. SHERLOC detects organic molecules and minerals on Mars, and WATSON captures detailed images of the Martian surface to support SHERLOC's analysis.

(Apparently this program was launched a while ago on July 30, 2020. In 13 days our babies are gonna have their fourth Mars anniversary. I’m going to cry.)

In my mind:

SHERLOC: *bossily points at something*

WATSON: *heaves sigh and takes photos*
