My favorite thing is imagining what it would be like if the canon characters met fanfiction versions of themselves
For example-
Canon Stephen: Who are you?
From the Top Stephen: Iām you, but where you only think of having sex with Tony Stark, I actually do it

*Wiggle wiggle* Letās do this!
Stephen went on a mission. Like, weeks ago. Unlike some of the missions in which he disappears for long periods, Tony knew this trip was supposed to be a fairly short one, and was in this dimension - so there were no time shenanigans at play.Ā
After about a month of Stephen being absent, Tonyās finally talked himself into it. Heās going to space. Heās finding his boyfriend. Heās tired of a cold bed and a lot of worry. He enlists the Guardians to help him, since theyāre in contact with Carol - whom Stephenās on his intergalactic trip with.
Being aboard the Benatar again totally freaks him out at first, and when they reach out to Carol she seems really surprised to hear from them all, doing her best to try and wave them off of everything and trying to send them home. Tony doesnāt know whatās up, but this is making him even more anxious to see Stephen - he doesnāt like that Stephenās hiding something from him.
Of course, as soon as Stephen realizes Tonyās trying to find him, he portals his way to the Benatar itself and berates Tony for getting himself all worked up and asking him why he came to space to begin with. Tony plainly states that he missed Stephen and was getting worried - Stephen had been gone for a long time!
Stephen makes some comment about day-night cycles, but Tony dismisses that in favour of asking what on Earth took him so long, and what was so important that he needed to be gone for so long without contact.
So Stephen pulls out an odd box, presses a button and lets it open up.
Inside is a ring made of a metal Tonyās never seen, and a stone on it that seems as though it encompasses all the stars.
āI needed to find you the perfect ring. You could have any ring you wanted in all the world, so I had to get creative.ā
Carolās all grins, and Quill hoots and hollars a bunch - even Rocket is uncharacteristically pleased, though Tony suspects it might have something to do with the other engineerās distinct interest in the metals and stone. Tony can relate. But heāll deal with that, later.
He needs that ring on his finger. Now. And to somehow not start crying in the process.

MASTERPOST (for the full series / FAQ / reference sheets)
(I could be wrong about some things since the book is fresh, feel free to expand this post or correct me! May be a little edited as well!)
To start things off: William Mischief Cipher, (yes thats his actual name) is a dream demon from another dimension. To be specific, the second dimension.
Despite Bill being a literal shapeā and also a demigodā itās implied that Bill had a human-like childhood. He had a normal mother and father, he went to school, and overall seemed to have a normal life. The problem, however, was that he was born with powers completely unknown to his dimension.
Bills world was 2D, meaning there was no up or down. Itās hard for us to grasp the concept of his world, and its implied Bills dimension felt the same way about us. They couldnāt grasp the idea of other, less flat dimensionsā but Bill could. Not only did he understand the concept, he could physically SEE the other dimensionsā which drove him crazy with confusion and frustration.
Itās also implied that Bill was born with physical powers others in his dimension didnāt haveā for example, thereās a line in the book where he remembers being bullied in school for having the ability to conjure fire.
Itās implied that Bill tried to tell everyone about the other dimensions, but they didnāt understand. The other people of his homeworld considered him troubled and insane. Thereās a poem written in code on the silly straw page of his book detailing how he was fed medicine to keep his āvisionsā away, but would only drink it out of a silly straw. This poem implies he was a baby at the time of taking his medicine, implying further that his powers were terrifyingly strong even from an early age. Thisā paired with the fact he could shoot fire from his fuckin handsā made him dangerous as a child, because (at least from what it seems) any childish outburst or tantrum could accidentally turn dangerous from his lack of understanding or being able to control the powers he was born with. He was a walking time bomb.
āEye doctor of a different kind who wants to make his patient blind / The doctor says three sips a day will make the visions go away / Fussy eater, baby billy, wouldnāt drink unless its silly.ā
(((The doctor was taking away Bills ability to see the other dimensions, rendering him somewhat blind. Bill fussed about his medicine as a child and would only drink it out of a silly straw.)))
Eventually, Bill tried to bring his world into the third dimensionā or at the very least, show them it exists to prove that he wasnāt insane. Itās unclear what exactly he did to try and accomplish thisā but it went wrong and started a terrible fire that left only him alive.
Itās unclear whether or not he started the fire itself on purpose or on accident, but either way its implied that he absolutely didnāt understand the permanent consequences. Itās something that deeply traumatized him. Itās blurred out of his memory, and in denial, he pretends everyone is still alive. Itās up to the reader to determine whether or not he can be forgiven for this, but out of everything Bill has done on purpose and out of malice, this doesnāt seem to be one of those things. It seems he genuinely wanted to free his family from the confinements of his dimension and to this day he still pretends thatās what he did, even if thatās not the case. The regret of his actions is something that goes on to shape his character today.
āTwisted out of shape after the killā the ghost of his family haunting him stillā (((Silly straw page)))
Bill has lied about this day on multiple occasions, and has also lied about how he feels towards it. Heās terrified to face the guiltā so he either pretends he did it on purpose and doesnāt care, pretends something or someone else did it, or pretends it didnāt happen all together.
While talking to Stanford, he calls himself a monster. This is what he truly thinks of himself. However, he pretends to be a different person than himself. His entire life past the day of his dimensions burning has been a lie of pure denial.
On top of denial, he refused and still refuses to grow up. After running off into a crumbling dimension with his āhenchmaniacā friends, he started acting like a rebellious teenager. Unlike most villains with a specific intent to hurt, he went throughout the universe with the sole intention of having as much fun as possible. However, with his terrifying power and uncaring nature many casualties happened on the side. Heās guilty for them, and even finds some of them funny, but hurting people wasnāt and isnāt his MAIN intent. (At least not most of the time. He IS known to hold grudges, or dismantle someoneās face for fun, but those things arenāt part of his overall goal. Not saying they arenāt shitty, but his main intent is important to understanding his character and complexity.)
His main goal is to distract himself from his past with as much chaos as possible while also seeking attention from anyone he can get it from. He talks about Stanford and says he needs Bill to boost his ego, but really itās the other way around. Bill considers himself a product to sell, he caters to people by using false charisma, pretending theyāre the ones that need him when in reality heās starving for their praise. He is desperate for someone to speak highly of him because his mind has nothing good to say, all the words he says out loud are compensation. He believes deep down that nobody will love him if they know who he truly is and what heās doneā and heās not really wrong. And look! He couldnāt even admit thatās how he feels about himself so he pretends heās giving advice! (He does this SO MANY fuckin times in the book..)
It appears in the book that the more he regrets or suffers from his past actions and traumasā the more he hurts and destroys the things and people around him as a distractionā all under the ruse of āpartyingā. So, in an immature attempt to absolve himself of guilt, he stacks more guilt onto his endless cycle by continuing to hurt those he loves again and againā pretending not to care but truthfully caring so much that heād do ANYTHING to drown out the feeling. Ironically, his way of drowning out his feelings is by causing more harm. He is an endless, pitiful paradox.
Itās often misunderstood that he is a uncaring, but thatās what he WANTS you to think. Thatās what he WISHES he was. His guilt and remorse doesnāt absolve him from the things heās done, but the fact that itās there is a GIANT and IMPORTANT part of his character. He CAN feel empathy, sympathy, sentimentality, and ESPECIALLY regret. He may be a considered a sociopath, but this doesnāt mean heās not a person with feelings as well.
Heās so distraught over losing Stanford that he drinks himself into a state of temporary amnesia that made him fall into a ptsd episodeā his memory is so bad he ends up thinking heās talking to his mother whoās been dead for probably millions of years.
This doesnāt excuse what he did to Ford AT ALL (I felt a little sick looking at the knuckles page..) but you canāt truly understand his character without understanding that he is LYING when he is cruel to Ford. And no, just because itās a lie/front doesnāt mean heās absolved from saying or doing something horrible, but it DOES mean he is unique and complex.
Itās perfectly reasonable to not forgive Bill for what he did to Ford, because itās not really forgivableā but I also think itās fair to explore the complexities of āevilā characters. SAYING A CHARACTER REGRETS THEIR ACTIONS DOESNāT MEAN I THINK THEY DESERVE FORGIVENESS!!! Especially in Billās case, considering that he PRETENDS to not be sorry, which makes him terrible even if he doesnāt mean what heās saying. He might as well not be sorry at all HOWEVER!! Itās still important to distinguish him from a sociopathic stereotypeā so I have to acknowledge that heās a little sorry anyway, even if that regret is hidden away and doesnāt help literally anyone.
He values his own comfortability over the people he loves. Meaning heāll always be cruel instead of apologizing because even if heās truly sorry, he canāt handle the fact that he did something wrong in the first placeā Heāll just play dumb.
At the end of the day, thoughā Bill is much more complicated than āGuy that just wants to explode people with his mind and take over the worldāā I mean yes, heās also thatā but he also has hella bad ptsd and possible other mental issues that Iām not qualified to diagnose. He has a mother who he misses and a pain he carries with him.
None of the pain he harbors will ever justify the pain heās causedā So no, I donāt think heās ACTUALLY forgivable (though I may joke). However, in my opinion, I do think heās redeemable! Heās going to live (or at least be in purgatory?) for millions of more years. He already got a punishment of literal death and has the empathy (somewhere) to continue forward and start fresh. He has thousands of years to heal from his trauma and wallow in what heās done.
The Pines family may never forgive him, but out of the child-cartoony love in their hearts they offer him not forgivenessā but live and let live. (Well, at least Mabel does.. love you sweet girl.) If he goes around them theyāll beat his ass like in weirdmaggedon, but if he stays away, they will too. At the end of the day, heās been stopped and theyāre happy. If he is alive, (((or is going to be??))) he might as well heal.
And, well.. even if you think he doesnāt deserve that somewhat happy(?) ending, a redemption arc for him has been hinted at for years. Sorry, man. Respect to you and all but like⦠friendship is magic and the evil demigod is gonna start working at your local wendys once heās outa space arkham. Itās just the way kids shows go, man.
(((Edited note: I apologize for my original wording when it came to āsociopathāā I wasnāt aware of its actual medical use and I shouldāve done my research on that! Iāve changed this post to be more accurate in that regard, so if old reblogs look different itās because theyāre the original version.)))
Yet another reason why I love Doctor Strange!
Minor-y spoiler-y, but not too bad. Major warning for my brand of sense of humour and my inability to choose between American and British spellings.
Anyway, I was appreciating @ririsasyās Every Doctor Strange Appearance in Endgame and the analysis there when I noticed something I hadnāt before in the Great Purple Vortexes of Awesome (thatās their official name in the comics, probably).

Take a close look at the spell. We canāt really get a HD look at this spell yet, but that doesnāt mean we canāt try to interpret the pixels to the best of our ability. It would be putting the āobsessed fanā title at risk.
At the beginning of what the audience sees of the spell, Doctor Strange floats into frame. All Outriders within his target area are floating within purple beams of light before quickly being followed by these bright tendrils coming from the ground.
Within a couple seconds, these white light tendrils have fully elongated and grabbed onto the Outrider above them.
And finally, when Doctor Strange lands, the Outriders are pulled downward to the ground. What I had not noticed before while watching the film in theatres is that the Outriders are not slammed into the ground to kill them. Instead theyāre being pulled into some sort of portal to who-knows-where. I would assume another dimension where they canāt harm others.
That rumbling after? Those are portals closing and the ground fixing itself.
And by the time the portals are closed, itās as if the ground was never disturbed in the first place.
What does this mean? It means throughout the entire Infinity War, including the battle in Endgame with plenty of Outrider fodder to toss around, we as an audience never actually see Doctor Strange kill on-screen.
For those of you who live fulfilling lives outside of fandom donāt remember, in Doctor Strangeās origin movie, he ends up killing a man in self-defense.
This used to be a personās astral body. And this is why you donāt stick forks into sockets.
After checking on his enemy and finding that, yep, he killed him, Doctor Strange is pretty upset about it. And he has no interest in ever repeating that again to the point that, at first, he rejects the Ancient Oneās initial offering of becoming Master of the New York Sanctum.

Somehow, against all odds in his position as a Master of the Mystic Arts, every action we have seen from him on-screen follows this mantra. The most damaging spell he ever uses against Thanos in Infinity War was this lightning-bolt thing (some fan theories think it might be the Bolts of Balthakk, but I like to call them the Sweet Lightning Lava Bolts). Considering Thanos was crushed by a boulder the size of a building at the beginning of the fight on Titan, I am not too worried about Thanosās health here.
Endgame follows this trend with the scene identified above and his role in the latter part of the fight on being a protector for the whole field by keeping floodwaters back after severe damage to the surrounding landscape.
One of my greatest hopes for future appearances of Doctor Strange under various directors is that this remains a core part of his personality. While he understands the necessity of self-defense, because he has so many tools in his multi-dimensional toolbelt to deal with his enemies in other ways, I hope he continues to use his creativity and abilities to save others (and the universe) without killing and with as little physical harm as he can viably get away with. I hope that, should he be in a corner where major physical harm and/or killing is the only way out, he still continues to display regret at the outcome in some manner. I also hope that, should he ever be in a team situation where someone asks him to kill an intelligent being, he outright says ānoā.
In the end, it was a great thing to realize in such a small section of onscreen time and it makes me very excited to see where Doctor Strange goes in Phase 4.
HE LOOKS SO GOOD!!
