Okay but what if Belos captured all the basilisks so he could become immortal(because its obvious he is) . He learnt how to drain magic to use it as a life-force, hence why he sucks up all the palismans. His brother didn't agree with his plan because that's always the way, gotta have one maniacal creep and one wholesome good boy. His brother abandoned him to explore the Isles by himself and that's when he wrote the diary etc.... Then Belos cloned his brother, as Hunter, because he's been missing him all these years and he couldn't stand it any longer, even though he evil he soft for his brother. So basically Belos was amazed by the Isles because of the power he could acheive whilst Phillip? Was amazed by them because of the magic and wonderment and what he could learn and experience.
