Okay so we all know that the idea of TSP just being a figment of Stanleys imagination is for those who find those sorts of plot twists absolutely astonishing

But here me out

What if Stanley was a normal person with a normal job. With a wife a best friend. He was in some mode of transportation with that best friend and ended up getting in a severe accident and falling into a coma. And thus the last voice he ever heard in his time wake was his best friend. Who is now the narrator of his story. And in this mode of transportation true only person he knew/was with was his best friend. (Now going off the idea that coma patients ‘dream’ in a way) What if the parable is the result of him thinking he’s died but trying to convince himself that he's not actually dead by going to work- making up a story, having a fake wife, and his best friend being a big part of that- but he can't remember who that friend is, who his wife is, or remember anyone from his life to fill people in this world, leaving him alone with a disembodied voice, a mannequin for a wife, and a inanimate objects as “people” to fill that gap of memory.

What if it was all in his head but he was convincing himself otherwise?

And I don't know about you but that skip button situation kinda feels like just self induced coma- I mean that button does keep him from feeling, hearing, seeing. Making time just zip by- like when your in a coma you have no time awareness. You just lose all your senses for however long your out- which nobody can predict. Like how every time Stanley clicked the button there was no rhyme or reason or pattern to how long he skipped.

Anyways just a thought. Though the Narrator just being in Stanley's head has me bolted to my seat. It changes everything for me.
