This really is my thought process!
I can't not share this!
Yeah, but it's also a learning experience, like you now know to buy less or something else. And when you get done it's clean.
This is really good to know!!¡!!

Reading this, really reminded me that history may be of the victors, but the ones who write it down are those who are left.

at this point the most charitable interpretation of tumblr's moderation is that
terfs on this site (users, not employees) have figured out that they can weaponize the automated banning system with mass reports on trans women
at best, nobody on staff has noticed this pattern of behavior for several years despite it being explicitly pointed out to them multiple times; at worst, there is at least one terf on staff making it so that mass reports of trans women get acted on instantly and are rarely if ever reviewed
Photo Matt has an ego the size of Cleveland and will ban anyone who incidentally bruises it while lying through his veneers about the reasons why when they are blatantly obvious to anyone with eyes
i'm genuinely not sure whether Matt is garden-variety transphobic, or if he hates everyone who shit-talks him and it just so happens (for no reason at all) that the trans women on this site dislike him and his moderation team more than most other groups so he just hates the fact that they keep making him look transphobic when he systematically bans them for hating him
tumblr's legal and PR teams are waking up right now, checking Slack on their phones before getting out of bed, and are probably screaming into their respective pillows
Being 5'8" myself, this looks amazing 😻🤩😍
nothing i love more than pictures of drag queens with their boyfriends where they’re 6 feet tall in full glam six inch platform heels and a wig twice as big as their head and the boyfriend is a cool 5’8” and overjoyed to be there
Now this doesn't translate directly for emails, but a lot of it does. If you get an email about something concerning, DON'T REPLY BACK! Double check the sender and then go to the website or whatever and check on it through that, not the site the email sent.
Hey so fun new scam just dropped! I got a call earlier today from someone spoofing the local police department's desk number, asking me if there was a reason I'd missed my jury summons this morning.
Friends, I had not received a jury summons for this month. Which I told him, at which point his previously clear diction suddenly turned into a rapid mumble, only becoming clear for scary words like 'federal' and then asking to confirm my address, at which point I hung up and decided to call the police department later.
When I called the police department the desk officer sounded so tired y'all. All I had to say was "Hey I got a call earlier saying I missed jury duty this morning?" and she immediately sighed and told me that yes it was a scam that was going around and thanked me for calling to confirm.
So this is your periodic reminder that law enforcement agencies will not call you to tell you that you're in trouble. If you need to pay a fine of some sort they will mail you a physical invoice. Anyone calling you saying they're from the police or any other law enforcement organization (up to the CIA and yes I have heard of scammers attempting to impersonate CIA agents over the phone) who then tries to get financial information from you over the phone is a scammer.
I know I actually bang on about this a weird amount, but it is my fervent hope that the information will stick in peoples' brains if they get randomly selected for the adrenaline spike lottery. Scammers use scary words to get you to panic in order to shut down your critical thinking, and if even one person's brain spits out "Tumblr user waterhobbit said the cops/CIA/federal marshalls don't call about this shit" before their bank account routing number is in the hands of assholes I will consider it a job well done.
But also it means that sometimes we don't even register the body sensation if we're doing something that has all our attention.
For years I would look at posts and questionnaires about neurodivergence that takes about being so focused on something that you forgot to eat and be like, "Couldn't be me. Being hungry is so uncomfortable! Your stomach is growling and cramping? How do you ignore that?"
Then someone informed me that neurotypical people have a whole bunch of "hungry" sensations before they get to that point.....
