Will we be able to adopt the cats at the cat cafe?
Yes! I am thinking at minimum the player can adopt at least one cat. Maybe more, I'm not sure yet, the cafe is still in its infancy but yes you can def have a cat
What’s the chance of PC being able to train cat to attack ROs
You're the second person to ask this. Unless you're just the same person asking twice. Maybe I'll put it to a vote! It's a fun idea.
I know I said haunted house was next, but I decided to start the cat cafe first. Working on the haunted house today though. (Also cat cafe isn't done, obviously there has to be more cats etc.)
Since Steam wants a minimum of 5 screenshots, I'm trying to get a little more map variety for that so it doesn't look like the whole game takes place on a handful of maps. After I get something presentable for the haunted house I think that will give me enough to submit my upcoming game page to them for review!
2-Headed Boy is also on YouTube and TikTok! If anyone wants to help me out with getting a little visibility on those (especially YouTube, that one seems extra challenging) give me a follow/a like or 2 on those to help spread the good word!
And here is the TikTok :)
Here's the first part of the Midnight City Mall for 2-Headed Boy, my yandere boyfriend RPG WIP!
This floor features ATMs for withdrawing funds/reviewing your bank balance (funds are deposited to your account once per in-game week cycle), as well as a crane game for winning plushies to give to your love interest(s). 5 different plushies creatures each available in multiple version for a total of 20 plushies. Different love interests like different plushies.
Also features a photo booth (usable with love interests), still figuring out exactly how I want to implement that part.
A lounge area with some paintings, and a food court with some oddball clerks. A variety of menu options are available. Figure out what foods your love interests like and have a lunch date.
Eating food/beverages also replenishes your "Spoons," a points meter that depletes with social activity in the game at varying degrees depending on the activity and how things are going with your love interest. Certain foods/beverages also provide different buffs. Still working on this part!
The sprites are so charming… reminds me of quotev wwffy/cyoa quizzes with people‘s oc art
Interesting, you know I've never done any of those, but it's a fun concept, using a quiz layout to make a choose your own adventure 🤔
Yesterday I added the actual mechanics into the game for leveling up the cats at the café, and added a feather toy. Each cat activity makes 1 hour of in-game time pass per round (but in reality takes less than a minute). No worries though, when you're not doing specific activities, time passes normally in the game (1 minute in game is 1 real life minute etc.). So no need to rush.
You may or may not be thinking, sheesh just move on from the cats already and get back to work on the main point of this game; dating and yandere harassment! To which I say:
I'm sorry
I will be working on more of the hand drawn sprites of the guys for White Day events next
Kage meltdown is coming soon
Please look forward to it
Didn't get a whole lot done for 2-Headed Boy yesterday besides the 2 Kage sprites I posted last night and making adjustments to the game lighting for different times of the day/night. I hadn't really messed with it since implementing the "sun" into the game, but the base values weren't great. Night was too dark, sunrise/sunset were too red, etc.
It's looking better now and more subtle but still noticeable. 7pm at night in the game is shown. I will not be making days longer in the summer or nights longer in the winter, that would take me too long and I just don't want to spend more time on this part lol
Also started working on the crafting system, added more items into the game, assigned the ingredient items as ingredients so the game will recognize them for crafting etc. Will work on that more tonight and have something to show for it soon.
I'll try to draw another sprite or 2 as well
Quick update, someone politely inquired about the pronoun setup in my game project yesterday, and to be honest I hadn't given it much thought.
But I decided, what the heck why not just decouple the player sprite's appearance from their in-game pronouns so they are separate questions when you're setting up your character at the beginning.
So you can use the feminine sprites with masculine pronouns or vice versa. I'll also add a 3rd set of "they/them" that can go to either sprite set too.
Not a hard thing for me to do and I'm sure it would make some people happier and nobody less happy, so that's a net positive for the game, and that's what we aim for here in my brain world. It's early enough in development that I don't have to revisit very much of what I already wrote into the game either so it's really nbd on that front.
Anyway will try to work on that sometime today if I get time between working my normie job
To the anon who asked if the cats at the cafe are adoptable, here's a small demo of how that will work. You can adopt only once/one cat per save file.
But what you can do an infinite amount of times is change your cat's accessory, so if you gave it a collar and later want to have it wear a bow or flower, or change the color of the bow/flower/collar, you can do that any time from your apartment wardrobe.
Before you can adopt a cat you have to get it to a friendly status with you at the cafe, by playing with it (use the laser pointer, I'll probably add a feather toy or something too).
Cat cafe is a key element of boyfriend option Yurei's route; playing with the cats and adopting one will get you points with him. More on that later!
I'm also working on a little special something for people who donate to the game, that will be related to cat cafe.
Unrelated note here, I don't know how many people have been paying attention to the in-game clock in the videos, but some may have noticed that before it was moving like...crazy fast, a second for a minute. I realize that would make crazy pacing in the game and probably be stressful. Right now I have it set to pass in real time, so a minute in the game takes a minute in real life.
BUT you can fast forward time with various in game activities so you're not time-gated (you can skip 8 hours by sleeping, or 2 hours with a nap, as a couple of examples).
Edit: Also, time passage is not tied to your computer's clock or anything like that. Time doesn't pass in the game unless you are actually running the game (it's not like Animal Crossing for example, where time passes in the game whether you are playing or not).
